24. Snow(Bad weather)
M: I’m going shopping, Mum. Do you need anything?
W: Yes, get some apples and some oranges to make juice with.
M: Well, we already have lots of oranges.
W: OK, just some apples then.
1.W: Hello, Mr Sun ．Welcome to Shanghai．How was your journey?
M: It was terrible．You know, the plane was late and the weather was too bad.
2.W: Dad，the weather report says it will be fine tomorrow. I want to go outside.
M: Shall we go to the park for boating?
W: Boating again? I'm tired of it.
M: What about having a trip in our new car to the countryside? The air is fresh there.
W: That’s good.（http://www.171english.cn）
3. M: Oh! There's a rainbow in the sky.
W: Yes, and there are many colors.
4.W: Don’t you know that you are an hour late?
M: I’m terribly sorry, madam. My bicycle broke down on the way and I had to mend it myself.
5.W: Your father is so strong! A policeman must have a strong body.
M: I think so. A soldier and a worker need strong bodies too.
W: Sandwich or orange pie?
M: Neither. Salad is good for me.
W: OK. Here's the lunch box.
M: Oh, is that the White House over there?
W: Yes, it's the place where the President of the
M: Do you know who designed it and when it first came into use?
W: I don't know. But the American people began to call it the White House in the 19th century, though it had got many different names before. This is the only thing that I know.
M: We have just moved into a new house.
W: Really? Congratulations!
M: Thank you. And we want to buy a new television.
W: What kind of television do you want to buy?
M: A color TV, of course. But I’m not sure about the size. Maybe we should buy a bigger one. If we buy a smaller one, we might have to change it in a few year’s time for a bigger one. That would be a waste of money. What is your opinion?
W: In my opinion, I don’t think it’s necessary for you to buy a very big one. As I know, your sitting room isn’t big enough. If you put in a very big television, that will be bad for your eyes.
M: Hmm, that’s quite true. I’ll think about it.
W: You’d better make a quick decision because the price may go up.
W: Hello. （http://www.171english.cn）
M: Hello, Alice. This is David speaking.
W: Oh, it's you. How nice to hear your voice! Are you calling from New York?
M: No, I'm calling from Los Angeles. I flew here on business with your sister Jane and want to visit you in San Francisco next week.
W: I'm glad to hear it. Are you coming by train or by bus?
M: We'll take a bus since it's not too far away.
W: Good. How does Jane feel about coming to San Francisco? I know this will be her first visit to the city.
M: She is very excited about it.
W: Me, too. I haven't seen her for quite some time since you two got married.
M: Right. It's a long time since you moved there.
W: I hope to see you soon.
M: A week isn't a long time, is it?
Hello everyone. My name’s Sinead and I’d like to welcome you to the Study Centre. Has anyone been here before? No? OK, let me explain what you can do in here. The Study Centre is more than just a place where you can come and sit and do your homework. As you can see, we’ve got books, DVDs, CDs…er…oh and some computers you can use language learning programs on.
There aren’t many rules here. Apart from the Speaking Room, we do ask you to be quiet so that people can get on with their work. You can borrow up to six books or one DVD at a time. Oh yes, and er opening times. We’re open at lunchtime and after school every day until 8. At the weekend we’re open 10 till 2. I think that’s all. Has anyone got any questions?
Are you looking for something fun and would you like to help others in your spare time? Then join us to be a volunteer! We're a non-profit organization. We have volunteer jobs of all ages. Anyone, from twelve-year-old children to people in their seventies, can become a volunteer.
You can help people in many ways. There is something for everyone. "As a volunteer, I don't want to get anything. Seeing the children's happy faces, I'm happy, too." said Carla Domingo, an old woman of 62. "I often played computer games in my spare time before. Now I help older people learn how to use computers." said another volunteer at the age of 18.
If everyone helps us a bit, we'll have a better world to live in. Interested? Call us 1-800-555-5756 or visit our Website: www.activol.com.
